A painting needs more information than its approximate size. The frame, glazing, surface and existing condition all matter when planning how it will be handled. Tell us about the work and any care instructions before deciding the packing and transport arrangements.
List dimensions, whether the work is framed or glazed, and any projecting or loose elements. Provide photographs and note existing marks or fragile areas.
If the artist, gallery or conservator has supplied handling instructions, share them with the team. Do not assume the same packing method suits a canvas, a glazed frame and a mixed-media work.
Share dimensions, framing, condition and any special handling instructions for the artwork.
Review packing or crating requirements and any specialist conditions that must be confirmed before booking.
Confirm access, quotation and the proposed transport arrangements for the pieces.
Carry out the packing, handling and transport included in the agreed artwork moving plan.
Review the delivered artwork and agreed unpacking or placement support. Discuss hanging or installation separately.
Confirm the services, responsibilities and proposed arrangements in your quotation before booking.
Discuss Your RequirementsDiscuss the protection and support needed for each item. Where crating or specialist handling is required, confirm the arrangement in advance rather than treating it as ordinary carton packing.
Clarify who removes the artwork from its display and who is responsible for installation at the destination. Hanging or conservation work is a separate requirement.

Keep photographs and an inventory that identifies each piece. Record who is authorised to hand over and receive it, along with the agreed collection and delivery locations.
At receipt, compare the work with the handover record and raise concerns promptly. Keep packaging available until the condition check is complete.
Tell the team when an item needs specialist assessment or conditions beyond normal transport. Any offered insurance should be reviewed for the declared value, exclusions and claim procedure.
For the rest of your belongings, explore home shifting. Keep artwork clearly identified within the wider inventory.

Discuss each piece before booking. Its fragility, size and handling needs determine whether the proposed arrangement is suitable.
Installation is separate from transport. Confirm any requested hanging work and the appropriate provider in advance.
Take clear photographs and note existing damage or loose parts before handover. Retain a copy with the inventory.
The work's materials, framing, size and condition guide that decision. Provide details so the requirements can be assessed.
Share your pickup, destination and preferred date, along with the items or services involved. We will help you work through the next steps and prepare a quotation for your requirements.
